Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - Use Your Own Shopping Bags, Use a Reusable Water Bottle/Cup I love #Yeti (Dishwasher Safe)                              Buy Compostable - Trash Bags, Cups, Plates, Cutlery,  Use Glass or Metal Containers at Home,  And I think we have all heard Use Reusable Straws Metal Ones are my go to Most Include a pouch to carry in your purse or keep in your car. Yes, I do pull them out at restaurants.

3. Change a Light Bulb - replace regular light bulbs with LED bulbs
4. Drive Less and Drive Smart
5. Buy Energy-Efficient Products
6. Use Less Hot Water - Wash Clothes in Cold Water,  Lower Your Water Heater Temp, Use Energy Settings on Dishwasher & Let Air Dry
7. Use the "Off" Switch - T urn off lights you are not using 
8. Plant a Tree - #Photosynthesis, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen
9. Get a Report Card from Your Utility Company - SDG&E My Energy Sign Up For Notifications

In partnership with TerraCycle, Nordstrom launched BEAUTYCYCLE - a program where you can drop off your skin care, hair care, and makeup products at their stores for TerraCycle to recycle for eventual reuse.

 

NIKE'S REUSE-A-SHOE PROGRAM?

We want you to go hard. And when your shoes can't handle another mile, trip up the court, or cut across the field, we want them back.

Our Reuse-A-Shoe program recycles athletic shoes at the end of their life, giving them a new life through Nike Grind. We make it easy for materials to live on from one product to the next—just drop your used shoes at a participating Nike retail store in North America or Europe.

Please note, some Nike stores around the world may be temporarily closed. Stores that are open may be operating with limited hours and services, and may not be accepting shoes for recycling.

We accept any brand of athletic sneakers, but we're unable to recycle sandals, dress shoes, boots, or shoes with metal (like cleats or spikes).

As climate change and other environmental issues take center stage and impact all areas of our lives, responsible companies are taking initiative to reduce their carbon footprints. Even small actions can have a big environmental impact.

 

These 101 companies are committed to reducing their carbon footprints and setting examples for others in their industries. These companies use innovative solutions and aggressive goals to see real results.

Agriculture

1. Land O’Lakes. The large co-op provides resources to agriculture startups and gives them resources to follow eco-friendly farming practices.
2. John Deere. The farming equipment company aims to recycle 85% of materials and reduce carbon emissions on 90% of new products to create sustainable inventory.
3. Cargill. The company maps emissions to lower carbon output through the entire supply chain and has a goal to lower greenhouse gas emissions by 10% by 2025.
4. Monsanto. The company was among the first to create carbon-neutral crop production practices that it uses on millions of acres of farmland.
5. Nutrien. The agricultural company encourages innovative practices from its farmers to create healthy soil and environmental sustainability.
6. Archer Daniels Midland. The innovative company is among the first to create sustainability-focused labs and provides resources to smaller farmers around the world.
7. Indigo Agriculture. The startup has a goal to capture 1 trillion metric tons of carbon dioxide from farmland by encouraging sustainable soil practices.
8. Coca-Cola. The soda company is fiercely dedicated to sustainable agriculture and is working towards sustainably sourcing all key ingredients by 2020 and reducing its carbon footprint by 25% by 2025.
